Humanist Modernity: Stanisława and Maciej Nowicki – exhibition opening in New York
On January 15, 2024, an exhibition showcasing the work of the notable architects Maciej and Stanisława Nowicki was inaugurated at the main headquarters of the United Nations in New York.
The exhibition opening was attended by representatives of the Permanent Mission of Poland to the UN, including Ambassador Krzysztof Szczerski. The Nowicki family, including the great-granddaughter who shared personal memories, was present. Andrzej Skalimowski read a letter from the NIAiU management, and the director of the department that Maciej Nowicki initially led at North Carolina State University highlighted his contribution to the establishment of the institution. The event was also honored by the presence of Dennis Francis, the President of the United Nations General Assembly.
On January 16, at the Center for Architecture, a panel discussion took place alongside the exhibition, featuring Kacper Kępiński – Head of External Projects and Exhibitions at NIAiU, Karolina Częczek – exhibition designer, Łukasz Stanek from the University of Michigan, and Burak Erdim from North Carolina State University.
The exhibition is scheduled to continue until January 26.
